Q: Attaching consignor tags
How do I attach consignor tags?
A:
Clothing: Attach with a safety pin to the top left shoulder (on the garment, not facing you!) If you are looking at the garment then it would be the right shoulder. *** SEE EXAMPLE on EXAMPLES PAGE
Toys and other items: Attach with a safety pin to items that have cloth or are secured in a bag. Just pin tag on the OUTSIDE of the bag. When using packing tape, please only tape the TOP HALF of the tag to your item. It is impossible to remove the tag at checkout if the tag is completely taped down. We need the barcode to be unattached!
Q: Pins
Why no straight pins?
A:
They are very dangerous. We need to protect the safety of our shoppers and our volunteers. No clothes pins either. They do not stay on and take up too much room on the rack.
Q: Shoes
How do I package shoes?
A:
You can package shoes in large 1 gallon ziplock bags. Laces and shoes must be in excellent condition. Limit of 10 pair. Bring your best! Used tennis shoes are no longer accepted. They just don't sell. I am trying to clean up the shoe area, and I will be looking closely at the shoes during inspection.
Q: Books
How do I package books?
A:
Sets of books can be placed in 1 gallon or 2 gallon Ziplok type bags. Or you can use plastic cling wrap around the set of books and then use clear packing tape to apply tag. When selling book sets, try to group by reading level. Individual books do not have to be placed in bags. However, please DO NOT tape the tag to the outside of the book. It must be removed at checkout.
Q: Puzzles
How do I package puzzles?
A:
The best way is to wrap Saran wrap around the puzzle, and then secure it with clear packing tape. Just make sure your tag is on the outside and accessible. Puzzles and games that are in boxes need to have every piece. Please be considerate of others. Do not try to sell items that are incomplete. Please seal the box with clear packing tape.
Q: Toys
How do I package toys with many parts?
A:
VERY SECURELY!!! The more secure the better. You can put small parts in ziplock bags, and secure them with clear packing tape, then attach the bag to the main part. (i.e. dollhouse furniture, kitchen supplies etc..)
Q: Bedding
How do I package my bedding?
A:
The absolute best way is in the package it came in. If you have more than one piece, DO NOT make a tag for each piece. For example, if you have 5 pieces, make the bumper pads 1of 5, comforter 2of 5 etc... Just make one tag that explains what you have, and how many pieces. Be very descriptive.
Q: Tagging
How do I hang sets?
A:
Hang the shirt on the hanger, and the shorts or pants on the back. Don't hang them under the shirt where customers can't see without it without taking the shirt off.
Q: Pants
How do I hang pants on a hanger?
A:
Safety pin the waistband of the pants or shorts to the top of the hanger, make it to where they will not slide down. Customers like to look at the knees, the seat, and the whole look, if they are hung this way, they see it all of it without removing them from the hanger.....See example on EXAMPLES page.
Q: Pricing
What is the best way to price my items?
A:
A good rule of thumb is to ask about a 1/3 of what you paid for it, if it is in immaculate condition and a name brand you can price it a little more. We are not a garage sale, so don't sell yourself short by asking garage sale prices. However, we are not a major department store, so don't price yourself out of a sale. ** HALF PRICE SALE - If you DO NOT WANT YOUR ITEM TO BE REDUCED TO HALF PRICE ON HALF-PRICE SUNDAY, make sure your tag does not have the "circle" on the tag.
