We will not accept any of the following items this season:
- Bedding. The only exception is Pottery Barn. If priced reasonably!
- Drop Side Cribs or any crib manufactured before July 23, 2010.
- Cribs have been subject to extensive recall lately. Therefore, no cribs will be accepted unless a Certificate of Compliance is provided by the Manufacturer or Retailer. Manufacturer Date must be visible and be after July 23, 2010.
- Twin and Full Mattresses
- VHS tapes
- Twin/Full Comforters
- Breast Pumps that are not FDA-cleared, hospital-grade
- Used undergarments
- Stuffed Animals (we will accept electronic stuffed animals)
- Jewelry
- Home Decor
- Electronics – TV’s, VCR, DVD players, clock radios, etc Children’s Disney Princess TV’s OK but will be tested.
- Household Lamps – Nursery lamps are accepted
- Any item that is not considered child friendly outside of household furniture.
- Recalled items: Be sure to check the recall websites under the Product Safety link above to check if any of your items have been recalled.
Clothing Brand Exclusions
I have struggled with the topic of brand names. I know there are some really cute outfits out there, I have bought them myself!!! However, garment quality and brand names usually go hand in hand. We love discount stores as much as anyone, but when you can find their items brand new for $3-$10 in the store, it is difficult for anyone to make it worth their while selling them the second time around. We simply cannot compete with their already low prices!
Because these items are so inexpensive to buy brand new, reselling them, even in gently used condition, does not allow our Consignors to reap the benefits of the time spent preparing these items — and we want all of our Consignors to have a successful event and make $$$! Our customers know they will find Mall and Boutique store brands at The Upscale WeeSale at great prices! This attracts more shoppers – and more shoppers means more $$$’s for our Consignors!!
With that said, we have decided not to accept clothing brands from WalMart, K-mart, and some other discount stores. The one exception is if you have brand new, with tags items from discount stores.
